Hyde 2021 Christmas

Decorating ginger bread houses, sledding in the snow, dinner, and games.  I had a great time.  Thanks to everyone that made it fun. 

Uinta's Swiftcreek loop with Brandon

 Planned a 35mile loop on the swiftcreek loop in the Uinta's 1 hour from Duchesne.  This 3 day loop planning about 12miles per day with a 30lb pack.  Did not have any time for fishing by the time we arrived at designation.  

multiple river crossing where the water was running fast and had to take it slow to cross.  Only 1 deer was seen.  Hunters in the area were seeing game, we was making to much noise and watching our feet to see anything.  

It was a fast loop with almost no downtime.  Took the hammock, wished I has a different underquilt setup and a different way to keep my toes warm while sleeping.  The rest of me was warm, just cold toes. 

Hyde reunion with siblings

 Meri and Julie deciding on the organization of the Hyde reunion found an AirB&B for rent 10 mins from dads place.  We also received permission to to have extra people at the  AirB&B so it could be used as the main hub.  

This worked out very well for everyone involved.  It was nice to have everyone there and had some good time visiting.  

Leavitt Cousins, Big Spring Reunion

 Analaine is turning 90 this year and traveled from Oregon to visit her Mitchell family here in Utah.  Since already in the valley, wanted to gather to see the Leavitt side of the family.  Julie and Sharon started planning this event.  Then Julie ending taking over as Sharon is tending to Elaine.  

Julie finding a park up Provo canyon, Big Springs Park.   What is interesting about this park is the some people that have leaved in this valley for many years did not know about this area.  This area is also good for snowshoeing which is how I already have know about this area and have explored the canyons here. 

Reunion day was great weather and great turnout.  Enjoying the afternoon with cousins that have not been seen for many years.   Estimating about 75 people for turnout.

Washington Lake with Steph, Desmond, Bobby, Lucy, and Charlie.

 Steph the week before went to Washington lake with Desmond.  Decided to do it again with all the kids the next weekend and invited anyone that wanted to go.  So of course I wanted to see where this lake was at.  

Parking lot was full with cars parked along the dirt road.  Found a spot and went for short hike to lake.  Even though parking was full, was not bothered with people where we went by the lake.  

The clouds blocking out the sun for majority of the day made the weather just right. Towards the end, the kid were ready to go.   

Seven Devils loop, Riggins Idaho with John.

 We've been planning this trip for over 6 months.  Deciding what gear to take and what what part of the loop to due.  We were lucky that the Seven Devils road just opened up the week before for our trip starting June 21st.  Only spending 2 nights out was making it a fast trip.  If there is a next time, then would like to see if we could spend out time out.  

Highlights on the trip.  Clear sky to get great views.  Down fall across the trail in the burn scar.  Hell storm that dump alot of wafer and flooded us out.  

Omaha - Rushmore with Sheridan and Julie.

Omaha - Rushmore trip with Sheridan and Julie, 10 days in motels. Traveling to Omaha to see Blane and family spending 3 days in Omaha.  The traveling to Wall SD.  Badlands National park, Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devils Tower, Cody Wyoming.  East Yellowstone and home.  

 

Spring break

 Spring break with the grandkids. Desmond, Noah and Bobby.  Crystal Hot Springs  Drove down and returned the same day.  Had lunch in the parking lot.  Could not find Bobby for like 30 mins.  Walked around and around everywhere.  Finely Bobby found me,  I guess all the kids looks the same to me.  

The next day was fishing at Tibble Fork.  Desmond was the only one that wanted to go.  only caught one fish,  Had fun feeding the ducks.  

Last day Nickle City in Orem.  All 5 of the older kids went.  Rick, Desmond, Bobby, Noah Natalie. Played Laser tag and everyone received 10 bucks.  

To end it, when to Movie where Lucy and Charlie joined.    

I think they all had a good spring break of 2021.  

Zion, Hoover dam trip. Sheridan, Julie.

 Lookin for a road trip.  I don't think Sheridan had been out of the house for a while.  First time to spend the night in a hotel in many, many years, (separate rooms).  

Drove down hwy 89, turned on hwy 9 for Zions.  Pulled out at a few stops, they did not get out of the car. Went through the tunnel, did not drive on the bus route, buses were not running.   No open hotels in near by that we wanted to pay for.  Found one in Hurricane.  That was it for the day. 

Next day decided to drive to the Hoover Dam.  A place that Sheridan has be wanting to see for years.  Tours not running because of Covid.  Rented a 5$ wheel chair for Sheridan as there was some walking involved.  Julie using the walker.  Was out for an hour, checking out stuff, see the you tube.  Then headed on back.  Found hotel in Cedar City.
